Here you can experience the calm rhythm of northern lifestyle, far away from mass tourism, and enjoy the warm atmosphere of a Sámi–Finnish family home.
Onnela is a place where everyone is welcome exactly as they are — a home filled with kindness, ease, and room to breathe. Guests stay either in the upper-floor apartment of our wood-heated traditional wooden house or in our newly built sauna cottage.

- Northern Lights Experiences – Admire the aurora by the Ounasjoki River or at our riverside lean-to.
- Winter Fun at Onnela Homestay – Gather your group and book Onnela’s riverside lean-to for private use. Play in the snow, enjoy a campfire by the river, slide down the riverbank, and experience Lapland at its most magical.
Summer & All-Season Activities
- Lake Fishing Trips – Experience a day on the water with a fully equipped lake-fishing boat and a licensed guide. Enjoy peaceful views, fresh air, and the calm of Lapland’s lakes.
- E-Fatbike Adventures – Guided Ride through scenic forest trails with easy-to-use electric fatbikes — suitable for all levels.
- Traditional Food & Outdoor Cooking – Join us for authentic northern food experiences, meals can be prepared over an open fire at our lean-to.
- Sauna & Hot Tub Evenings – Relax in a traditional wood-heated sauna, followed by a warm outdoor hot tub under the open sky — a perfect way to end the day.
- Transportation Services – Transfers from Rovaniemi city can be arranged upon request.
Sauna Cottage for One or Two Guests
Our charming wood-heated sauna cottage is perfect for a short, cozy stay.
The cottage includes a sleeping nook and an authentic Finnish sauna — bathing is done traditionally with wash basins and warm water.
You can add a breakfast basket to your stay, and on request, we can prepare delicious pizzas in our wood-fired oven to enjoy by the fireplace.
